Our colleague  <span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/lara-golab-a3539620b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lara Golab<\/a><span> <\/span>goes one step further: she works 100% remotely. In the following interview, Lara tells us what she likes about remote working, how the onboarding process went and what her everyday life at Materna Virtual Solution looks like. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>Dear Lara, you have been part of the MVS family for over 9 months. A good opportunity to look back on your first months at Materna Virtual Solution. Can you please briefly introduce yourself and tell us what you do at Materna Virtual Solution?  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Golab:<\/strong><span> <\/span>My name is Lara Golab and I am 30 years old. I live in my beautiful home town of L\u00fcbeck, which is about 45 minutes from Hamburg on the Baltic Sea coast and, in my opinion, is definitely worth a visit. \ud83d\ude42 I have been working in the IT industry since my training as an office communications clerk, where I also gained my first sales experience in the public sector. Since then, I have worked for ten years as a sales representative in the environment of federal authorities, state administrations, municipalities, research &amp; educational institutions and NGOs. Nine months ago, I decided to take on new challenges and moved to the sales department of Materna Virtual Solution, where I now work as an Inside Sales Specialist and act as an interface to product management and marketing.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>Thank you very much for introducing yourself, dear Lara. We are very happy to have you with us. As we mentioned in the introduction, you are working 100% remotely. We would be delighted if you could tell us about your start at Materna Virtual Solution. How did the onboarding take place?    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Golab:<\/strong><span> <\/span>My onboarding was really great and well organized and (which may surprise some) not only remote. I spent the first three days at Materna Virtual Solution&#8217;s headquarters in Munich to meet my new colleagues in person and pick up my technical equipment. What I really liked: On the first evening, my team took the time to have dinner together, which also allowed us to get to know each other better personally. The rest of the onboarding then took place completely remotely and still worked wonderfully. I was given a specific onboarding plan that covered various topics such as marketing, finance, product management, development and, of course, sales-specific topics such as familiarization with the CRM, the product portfolio and our customer base. This allowed me to quickly familiarize myself with the new topic of secure ultra-mobile work. I also immediately felt at home in the team and was able to integrate into the company very quickly.      <\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>Thank you very much for your open words, dear Lara. We are pleased to hear that you had a great start. Of course, we are now interested in what your day-to-day work at Materna Virtual Solution looks like. Have you been able to build up a good relationship with your colleagues despite the physical distance?   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Golab:<\/strong><span> <\/span>A typical working day in my home office looks like this: I get up and get ready as if I were going to the office (this is very important to me). Then I make myself a coffee and switch on my laptop. The first thing I do in the morning is go through my emails and prioritize them. By the way, I&#8217;m still very old school here and still use a written to-do list. After I&#8217;ve gone through my emails, we have our daily stand-up call where we talk about open issues in the Inside Sales team and assign tasks. Once a week, we have our team meeting with the entire sales department. We always have our cameras on &#8211; even if it&#8217;s not mandatory. This makes our discussions and appointments more personal despite the distance. Thanks to the regular meetings, I was quickly able to build up a good relationship with my sales colleagues. Not just with them, but also with all the other departments and colleagues I work with. For example, through virtual coffee dates or, of course, physical celebrations, such as the summer party or the Christmas party. Despite the great distance, great friendships have developed and it&#8217;s really fun to work in such a young and dynamic team. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>That sounds great! And we totally agree with you, the MVS team spirit is great &#8211; no matter where you work from. Of course, we&#8217;re also interested in why you opted for the remote working model? What do you think is the biggest advantage?   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Golab:<\/strong><span> <\/span>The pandemic has somehow brought us all into the remote working model. At my previous workplace, like many other employees, we had to switch from traditional office work to working from home from one moment to the next. In this situation, I very quickly realized that this model worked well for me and could therefore also imagine it for my future positions. And I am convinced that if you are open-minded and the model suits you, remote working naturally offers many more opportunities on the job market.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>We all remember the situation very well. But it&#8217;s nice to see that the pandemic has also brought new opportunities and perspectives. How do you manage to maintain your work-life balance with a 100% remote position? Can you switch off well after work?   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Golab:<\/strong><span> <\/span>This is a really good and important question that I get asked a lot! As already mentioned, my first recommendation is to get ready in the morning as if you were going to the office. Then, of course, take your lunch break. It&#8217;s important to me that the break doesn&#8217;t take place at my desk. For example, I like to cook myself something, go for a walk or use my break to run errands. You should also make sure that you don&#8217;t accumulate too much overtime. I know that&#8217;s not always easy, as it&#8217;s easy to be tempted to do one or two things again. But it&#8217;s extremely important for a good work-life balance! To maintain this, I go out after work, meet up with friends, go to the gym or do something else. And last but not least, my tip is to tidy up your desk after work and not just put your laptop on standby, but actually switch it off. For example, I also leave SecurePIM closed after work and deactivate work-related push notifications on my mobile devices.          <\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial Office:<\/strong><span> <\/span>Thank you for all the tips and for taking the time to talk to us about the topic!
