Release update: Adaptive user interface and improved usability

Blog, Release

Autumn is just around the corner and our September release is just around the corner. You can look forward to helpful new functions and improvements in SecurePIM and the SecurePIM Management Portal.

SecurePIM (9.29.x for iOS & 9.5.x for Android)

Preparations for iOS 26 & iPadOS 26: SecurePIM uses new phone app on the iPad (iOS)

The official release date for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 is September 15, 2025.
We are continuously working on making SecurePIM compatible with iOS 26 & iPad 26 and have already integrated some features.

Would you like an example?
The iOS telephony app is also coming to the iPad with iPadOS 26. SecurePIM can now use the new iOS telephony app on iPads. The telephony app opens when you start a call from the Contacts module in SecurePIM and Facetime is activated in the system settings.

Adaptive user interface for SecurePIM on the iPad (iOS)

With this and the following releases, we will gradually convert SecurePIM to an adaptive interface. This UI dynamically adapts to different window sizes and is especially optimized for small windows (“small canvas”) on the iPad. This adaptation enables improved use of the Stage Manager on iPads and on external displays with iPadOS and at the same time supports the new window management functions. The result is a secure, ultra-mobile workstation that can effectively replace a laptop.

Our aim is to enable you to work productively and securely anytime, anywhere – without a laptop.

We have implemented this in this release:

  • Dynamic user interface in the Browser module: With the current release, we have completely converted the Browser module to an adaptive user interface. The browser now reacts fully adaptively to Stage Manager and Window Management.
  • Dynamic display of the Contacts module: The display of the Contacts module now adapts to the window size and is also displayed correctly in smaller window sizes.
  • Dynamic adjustment of the workspace elements: The display of the rows and columns in which the workspace icons are arranged now remains constant even when the iPad is rotated or the window is resized.
  • Standardized user interface between iPhones and iPads: In preparation for a fully adaptive SecurePIM, we have standardized the SecurePIM user interface on iPhones and iPads in several modules.

Select email account when creating messages (iOS)

You can now select the account used in the Mail module directly from the Documents module or the document editor when creating, replying to or forwarding documents and when sending e-mails, provided you have stored more than one account.

Team-Mails: Search function available offline (Android)

The search function can now also be used without an active Internet connection.

Swipe in the mail module in search results (Android)

The search function can now also be used without an active Internet connection.

Smartcard-on-demand with integrated pairing available (Android)

The linking of smartcard readers is now also available directly in SecurePIM as part of Smartcard-on-Demand.

Technical information

End of support for Exchange 2016 & Exchange 2019

Microsoft’s support for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. From this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019.
Please make sure you update your email infrastructure in good time before the end of support to ensure the security of your email infrastructure.
Exchange 2016 & 2019 are expected to be replaced by Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) in the second half of 2025.

Deactivation of Apple Intelligence writing tools in input fields (iOS)

In SecurePIM, all writing tools from Apple Intelligence – such as rewriting texts or proofreading by Apple Intelligence – have been deactivated in text input fields. This affects both the normal input fields in SecurePIM and embedded web content.
This measure means that Apple Intelligence can be used on the device without Apple Intelligence processing content from SecurePIM.

Note on Apple Intelligence:
Since iOS 18.4, the Apple Intelligence functions have been fully available on iPhones in the EU. However, if AI functions are activated, there is a possibility that Apple Intelligence will access sensitive content from other apps and process it outside the respective app.
Apple currently does not offer the option to specifically exclude certain apps from being used by Apple Intelligence.
We therefore recommend completely deactivating Apple Intelligence on devices with sensitive data.

  • Configuration of SkipKey for Apple Intelligence via MDM (iOS)
To prevent Apple Intelligence from being activated in the first place, we recommend configuring a SkipKey for Apple Intelligence. SkipKeys can be set up by administration teams during the setup of devices if you use an MDM system, for example. If a SkipKey is configured for Apple Intelligence, the option for activation is not displayed to users during device setup.
Further information on SkipKeys can be found at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/skipkeys.
  • Manually deactivate Apple Intelligence (iOS)
If you do not use MDM, SecurePIM Enterprise users must manually deactivate Apple Intelligence in the iOS device settings.
For more information on manually deactivating Apple Intelligence, see: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iphc28624b81/ios.

Please update SecurePIM to the latest version on all devices used.

For iOS devices

Some security-critical patches are available with iOS/iPadOS version 18.6.1. Please therefore update to version 18.6.1 as a matter of urgency. Please note that we will discontinue support for older iOS versions 6 months after the official release of a new iOS version.

Please note: The official release date for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 is September 15, 2025. Please install the latest SecurePIM version when you update your device to iOS 26.

For Android devices

If you are using an Android device, we recommend that you use Android 15. Please update your device if you have not already done so.

SecurePIM Management Portal (Version 2.61.x)

Remote Admin API for SecurePIM administration (Beta)

With the new Remote Admin API, you can call up selected functions of the SecurePIM Management Portal via an interface. You can activate the Remote Admin API under Beta functions > Remote Admin API. The required authentication data is provided there. In version 2.61.x of the SecurePIM Management Portal, you can create, change and delete SecurePIM users.

Group administration: Import and export adapted to group authorizations

The import and export functions have been extended and now also take into account the specific group authorizations of administration teams. If an import file contains SecurePIM accounts that are outside the assigned area of responsibility, the process is aborted with a clear error message – the corresponding data is not transferred. This adjustment affects the SecurePIM Accounts and Devices areas, among others.

Please note the information on the system requirements for the SecurePIM Management Portal. A detailed table can be found in the release notes for version 2.61.x.

The Remote Admin API is also described via OpenAPI documentation, which can be found directly in the SecurePIM Management Portal, also under Beta functions > Remote Admin API.

Download the new versions now
