SecurePIM Government SDS now with VDI access: Mobile access to the virtual Windows desktop – VS-NfD-compliant
The requirements for modern working in public authorities and organizations are changing rapidly: mobile devices such as iPads have long been part of everyday working life – even in the public sector. With the latest extension of SecurePIM Government SDS supports this development even more consistently: From now on, secure access to virtual desktops (VDI/Citrix) is also possible while on the move – in compliance with VS-NfD, of course.
Using Windows specialist applications on the iPad – it’s easy with SecurePIM
The new VDI access opens up major advantages, particularly where Windows-based work environments also need to be used on the move. A classic example: specialist applications that are only available on Windows – such as older ERP systems or specific management software – can now also be run on the iPad.
This is particularly relevant for employees who need access to their usual Windows workstation while on the move or in the field – for example:
- Field staff in public administration
- Consultants in government projects
- IT administrators with access to central systems
- Emergency services with access to operational planning or internal specialist applications
With SecurePIM Government SDS, these users now have secure, VS-NfD-compliant and uncomplicated access to their familiar virtual desktop via their mobile workstation – without detours, directly in the browser.
An application example from practice
A project manager in the federal environment regularly uses a special ERP system that is only available on the authority’s Windows client. Previously, this was only possible in the office. Thanks to the new VDI support, he can now access his virtual Windows workstation directly via his iPad while on the move – whether in a hotel, at a customer appointment or from his home office. This saves time, increases flexibility and enables seamless working regardless of location – with maximum protection of confidential data in accordance with VS-NfD standards.
Centrally controllable and easy to integrate
The new function also offers advantages for administration teams: The access points to the VDI infrastructure can be configured centrally in the SecurePIM Management Portal. This ensures that employees always have the right access to the virtual desktop – security-compliant, centrally managed and user-friendly.
Optimal use on tablets
For the best user experience, we recommend accessing the virtual desktop via a tablet. Important: The window size should be set before starting the virtual desktop, as subsequent size changes are currently not supported.
Conclusion: Mobile sovereignty – also for Windows environments
With the addition of VDI and Citrix access SecurePIM Government SDS becomes even more flexible. Authorities and organizations receive a future-proof tool to securely integrate classic Windows-based applications into modern, mobile working environments – VS-NfD-compliant, ultra-mobile, ultra-secure and ultra-simple.
