Release update: Improvements in the calendar and browser

Blog, Release

Everything is new in May – and Materna Virtual Solution: We may not be bringing flowers into bloom, but we do have the latest versions of SecurePIM and the SecurePIM Management Portal.

Take a look at what we have improved this time:

SecurePIM Enterprise / Government (9.21.x for iOS & 9.3.x for Android)

Edit local bookmarks in the browser module or in the workspace (iOS)

You can now edit local bookmarks directly in the browser. There you have the option of changing the URL, changing the saved view mode or deleting the bookmark.
Would you prefer to edit your local bookmarks directly in the workspace? No problem: Under the “Bookmarks” menu item, you can change the name or URL or delete the bookmark.
You can also rearrange all bookmarks in the list using the drag & drop icon – both local bookmarks and bookmarks from your organization.

Improved address search for calendar events (iOS)

Have you already gotten used to the improved contact search in the calendar? Very good, because here’s another update:
If you tap and hold on a name tile in the list of participants that have already been added, you will now also see the overlay menu in which you can find all saved e-mail addresses. The main contact address is already selected in this overlay. You can choose between the saved addresses in the overlay menu and, if necessary, change the e-mail address added to the appointment.

Improved overview in the calendar (Android)

With this update, past appointments in the Calendar module can be seen at a glance in the weekly and monthly view: as soon as their end time is reached, they are automatically grayed out. The adjustment applies to both the list and grid view.

Team mail can now also be used offline (Android)

The Team Mails module is now also available offline. Once content has been downloaded, it can also be viewed and edited without an active internet connection. All offline actions are carried out automatically as soon as the connection is re-established.

Technical information

End of support for Exchange 2016 & Exchange 2019

Microsoft’s support for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. From this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019.
Please make sure you update your email infrastructure in good time before the end of support to ensure the security of your email infrastructure.
Exchange 2016 & 2019 are expected to be replaced by Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) in the second half of 2025.

Deactivation of Apple Intelligence writing tools in input fields (iOS)

In SecurePIM, all writing tools from Apple Intelligence – such as rewriting texts or proofreading by Apple Intelligence – have been deactivated in text input fields. This affects both the normal input fields in SecurePIM and embedded web content.
This measure means that Apple Intelligence can be used on the device without Apple Intelligence processing content from SecurePIM.

Note on Apple Intelligence:

Since iOS 18.4, the functions of Apple Intelligence have been fully available on iPhones in the EU. However, if AI functions are activated, there is a possibility that Apple Intelligence will access sensitive content from other apps and process it outside the respective app.
Apple currently does not offer the option to specifically exclude certain apps from being used by Apple Intelligence.
We therefore recommend completely deactivating Apple Intelligence on devices with sensitive data.

Configuration of SkipKey for Apple Intelligence via MDM (iOS)

To prevent Apple Intelligence from being activated in the first place, we recommend configuring a SkipKey for Apple Intelligence. SkipKeys can be set up by administration teams during device setup if you are using an MDM system, for example. If a SkipKey is configured for Apple Intelligence, the option for activation is not displayed to users during device setup.
For more information on SkipKeys, see: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/skipkeys.

Deactivate Apple Intelligence manually (iOS)

If you do not use MDM, SecurePIM Enterprise users must manually deactivate Apple Intelligence in the iOS device settings.
For more information on how to deactivate Apple Intelligence manually, see: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iphc28624b81/ios.

Please update SecurePIM to the latest version on all devices used.

For iOS devices

Some security-critical patches are available with iOS/iPadOS version 18.5. Please therefore update to version 18.5 as a matter of urgency. Please note that we will discontinue support for older iOS versions 6 months after the official release of a new iOS version.

For Android devices

If you are using an Android device, we recommend that you use Android 15. Please update your device if you have not already done so.

SecurePIM Management Portal (Version 2.59.x)

Discontinuation of support for MariaDB 10.5

Support for MariaDB version 10.5 and older ends with the July release.
As of the July release, only MariaDB version 10.11.x (LTS) is supported and recommended.

Discontinuation of support for PostgreSQL 13 and support for PostgreSQL 17

Support for PostgreSQL version 13 and older ends with the November release.
With this release we also support PostgreSQL 17.

Categorizing with brains: News in e-mail handling

The e-mail categorization function (formerly “Classification”) has been renamed and expanded: It is no longer mandatory to select a default category when activating the e-mail categorization function. Instead, you can now specify whether users must select a category when sending. The setting can be found under SecurePIM Administration > Settings > Email > Email categorization.

Admin roles 2 – Grouping now!

Admin roles can now be restricted to specific SecurePIM user groups. This means that administration teams can only see and manage the accounts and devices of the groups assigned to them. This new function helps to better distribute responsibilities within the team and clearly regulate access. The setting can be found under Company administration > Roles & permissions, in the new Groups section.
By default, access to all groups is permitted – however, it can be adjusted using the new Group access function and limited to one or more groups.

Please note the information on the system requirements for the SecurePIM Management Portal. A detailed table can be found in the release notes for version 2.59.x.

Download the new versions now

The new version of SecurePIM is now available in the Apple App Store (version 9.21.x) and in Google Play (version 9.3.x). Update now and benefit from the latest features.

Detailed release notes on the current versions of SecurePIM and the SecurePIM Management Portal, including system requirements, can be found in the Infohub.
