The digital transformation in the Bundeswehr’s defense environment is progressing slowly. Those responsible are too concerned that sensitive data could fall into the wrong hands. In the interests of national security, the defense sector relies on the highest standards of data protection and confidentiality. Even the disclosure of metadata, which is possible when using WhatsApp and other messengers that are not certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), for example, can be sufficient to reveal the position of troops and therefore poses a significant security risk.
Given the highly sensitive nature of the information exchanged in the defense environment and the specific workflows, it is helpful to have an expert on board who is familiar with the internal processes of the Bundeswehr. For this reason, we are very pleased that we have been able to recruit Marco Schrader as Senior Account Manager Defense for Materna Virtual Solution. After studying education at the University of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg, Marco Schrader went to sea internationally as an officer on frigates of the German Navy. After 12 years of service, he decided to switch to the IT industry and worked for large, globally active IT companies as Key Account Manager Defense. Even after his active service, Marco Schrader remained loyal to the Bundeswehr and regularly worked as a reserve service provider in the press and information sector as well as in digitization projects.
On May 10 and 11, we will be represented together with Marco Schrader at the AFCEA trade exhibition at booth S 52 in Bonn. On both days, our IT security experts will be available to discuss topics relating to secure ultra-mobile communication in the defense environment and the exchange of classified data(VS-NfD and NATO RESTRICTED) are available. You can also discuss digitization projects in your unit with colleagues from the Materna Group.
We are already looking forward to your visit and exciting discussions!
