Successfully avoiding risks in mobile working in companies

Blog, Mobile Security

Mobile working is now firmly anchored in our everyday working lives – but few people think about the security of company data. But negligence can sometimes have far-reaching consequences.

In our first blog post on the topic of “Mobile risks“, we presented the five biggest dangers lurking in the mobile office for companies. Here we would like to show you how you can take concrete action to protect your data in the best possible way together with your employees.

State-of-the-art

This is half the battle when it comes to guaranteeing the greatest possible security: Keep all technical devices as up-to-date as possible and carry out regular security updates.

Strict separation

Company data and private data should not be mixed on the mobile device, and apps used for private purposes must not have access to work data. The company area, on the other hand, is best secured with a PIN, touch ID or smart card.

Encryption

Business data should also be encrypted from start to finish. Access to internal company files or the intranet should be via a secure channel. Business emails must also be encrypted, and ideally also signed so that the addressee of an email can be identified.

Delete remotely

No matter how careful you are, no one is usually immune to the loss or theft of a mobile device. This makes it all the more important for administrators to be able to delete company data from the device at any time, even remotely.

Sensitize employees

Last but not least: Always get your employees on board with all these preventive measures in order to sensitize them to the topic of mobile security.

In most cases, you have to walk a fine line: On the one hand, there is IT security, undoubtedly an unavoidable issue; on the other hand, there is efficient working, which contributes significantly to the company’s success.

A suitable solution should not restrict colleagues in their work and should ideally be as user-friendly as possible.
